Lenovo debuts IdeaPad Y710 17-inch notebook

The company annonuced a new brand of laptops "IdeaPad" that complements their famous ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops. The first notebooks to be introduced under IdeaPad brand are Intel Centrino processor technology powered Y710.
It comes with facial recognition technology, Dolby Home Theatre surround sound, dedicated gaming controls, frameless screens, touch-sensitive control surfaces and unique textures.

This is the first notebook from Lenovo that has a 17-inch monitor with a resolution of 1440x900, and a ATI Radeon Mobility HD 2600 graphics processor with 512MB of memory. Wireless LAN connectivity, Dolby Home Theatre system as well as an optional Blu-ray DVD reader makes the IdeaPad Y710 notebook ideal for the entertainment enthusiast.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y710 has a hard drive of up to 320GB with a speed of 5400rpm that also houses a second, hot swap hard drive. Lenovo for the first time has introduced RAID function in the IdeaPad Y710, which simultaneously uses both hard drives for superior input/output performance and data reliability. It also maintains mirror copies of the data on different drives to ensure data security
