Moto tablet – Xoom arrives in India, with price tag of Rs 32,990

Motorola has released its Xoom tablet in the Indian market. The tablet, which was officially the first to run Android 3.0 (Honeycomb, the flavour of Android Google had specially brewed for tablets), arrives in two variants – a Wi-Fi one for Rs 32,990 (MRP: Rs 34,490) and a 3G one for Rs 39,990 (MRP: Rs 41,490). Both have 32 GB storage (no other storage variants, as of now), pack in a powerful 1 GHz dual core processor, 1 GB RAM, 10.1 inch displays, and battery lives that are expected to range in the vicinity of 10 hours over Wi-Fi. Yes, it is not the first Honeycomb tablet to appear in the Indian market (the Acer Iconia A500 stole a march there), but on paper, it certainly is one of the most powerful. The price might appear to be a bit on the stiff side to some, but is actually, pretty much in the vicinity of that of the 32GB iPad 2 Wi-Fi and 3G models. Interestingly, the Xoom has hit the Indian market exactly a day after the HTC Flyer did, and within a week of the PlayBook. Indian tablet poppers have never quite had it so good. Yes, yes, we are working on a review. Stay tuned.
