Sony has official unveiled its new tablets today, codenamed the S1 and S2 at a press event in Tokyo. The tablets come in two distinct  styles with the Sony S1 tablet equipped with a 9.4-inch display and a wedge shape design which Sony says provides a more ergonomic tablet to use. While the S2 is designed as a foldable dual-screen tablet, fitted with a pair of 5.5-inch 1,024 x 480 pixel displays.

The S1 and S2 feature a Tegra 2 SoC processor and will ship running Google’s Honeycomb Android OS which has been specifically designed for tablet devices. Both tablets are also WiFi and WAN (3G/4G) compatible and are equipped with Sony’s customised “Quick and Smooth” touch panel UI with “Swift” web browser.
Using the Sony Tablet users will be able to control their Sony equipment using infrared technology and transforming the S1 into a universal remote control for a variety of Sony AV devices. Together with the ability to stream media from the Sony Tablets to your large screen HDTV.
Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet by Sony, but as soon as they make it available we will let you know.
